Three Governors Join Buhari for Jumat Services at the State House
Three state governors on Friday joined President Muhammadu Buhari for the Juma'at service at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The governors are Abdulazeez Yari (Zamfara); Tanko Al-Makura (Nasarawa); and Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano).
After the prayers, the three governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress returned with the President to his office where they met behind closed doors for several minutes.
Our correspondent reports that the number of people participating in the Friday prayer has been increasing rapidly since June 26 when Buhari decided that he would no longer be attending the Juma'at service at the National Mosque, Abuja.
At the beginning, only workers in the Presidential Villa and government officials joined the president for prayers at the State House.
However, as the news spread that the president had chosen to pray at the State House, some people, especially politicians, started attending the service.
Penultimate Friday, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, also joined worshippers.
Because of the small nature of the mosque, worshipers now overflow to the forecourt of the Presidential Villa leading to the President's office.
Public address system had been mounted on the mosque to cater for those who cannot gain access into the mosque.
