2 females suicide bombers kills 7 anmd injure 26 in damaturu

Two suspected female suicide bombers have killed seven people and injured 26 others in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
The attacks, according to agency reports, occurred at a motor park and Pompomari Ward, simultaneously.

An eye witness claimed that one of the suicide bombers, wearing a veil, pretended to be a passenger, when she detonated her bomb at about 9:45am at the motor park before security men could commence routine check of people entering the area.

It was learnt that the scene of the explosion was immediately condoned off by security men and corpses and injured people were rushed to Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital.

Meanwhile, Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, has expressed his condolences to victims of the bombings even as he expressed shock at the incident.

Governor Gaidam, in a statement by his Director of Press Affairs, Abdullahi Bego, described the attacks as callous and senseless.

The statement reads: “Once again, His Excellency Governor Gaidam is heartbroken. He mourns with the families of victims of these callous, senseless and condemnable attacks.

“At this time of so much sadness, therefore, Governor Gaidam expresses his heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the families of victims. He prays Almighty Allah, SWT to grant repose to the souls of those who died and quick recovery to those who sustained injuries.

“Already, the governor has directed that injured victims be given quick and free treatment at the Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital, where they have been taken for medical care.
“And in line with the governor’s directive, the hospital and State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA officials are at this time doing everything necessary to provide the assistance that the victims need.

“Governor Gaidam urges people across Yobe State to continue in the traditions of vigilance, prayers and support to security agencies as they push on with their effort to rid our state of the unspeakable violence that has caused so much pain and death,” he said
