Senate confirms Chief of Defence staff, Service Chiefs

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Chief of Defence Staff (Major General Amazonia Gabriel Olonisakin) and Service Chiefs by President Buhari.

The president, on July 13, appointed new service chiefs for Nigeria’s armed forces

Those confirmed are:
Major General Amazonia Gabriel Olonisakin – Chief of Defence Staff

Chief of Army Staff -Major General Tukur Yususfu Buratai
Chief of Naval Staff- Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe – Ibas
Chief of Air Staff -Air Vice Marshall Sadique Baba Abubakar
while Air Vice-Marchal Monday Morgan was named Chief of Defence Intelligence.

The president also appointed retired Maj-Gen. Babagana Monguno as National Security Adviser.

The Senate President,drew their attention to restore peace in the North East and how to tackle boko haram insurgency.

The senate formally confirmed the appointments, After 6 hours of screening of the military officials on Tuesday.
