Police get deadline to stop personnel without training

The Federal Capital Territory will by the new 2015/2016 legal year, which starts in September, stop prosecution of criminal cases by police officers who are not trained as lawyers.
Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory, Justice Ishaq Bello, said this in Abuja on Monday at a workshop for senior police personnel on the application of the new Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 and the Violence Against Persons Act 2015.
The event was jointly organised by United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies.
